7 Reasons to stay at the W. Foshay Hotel in Minneapolis

I’m so excited to share the 7 reasons why I love this hotel. The first reason is that it’s located in a great area, right in downtown Minneapolis. Next, the rooms are really spacious and comfortable with plush king size beds and luxurious linens. I stayed in their pristine corner suite for three days, and did not want to leave. I ordered room service once for breakfast and another day for dinner. They did not disappoint either time. Food was great with all condiments included on a beautiful platter. Most importantly it was served in less than 20mins each time. Efficient and courteous staff

If you’re in search of a good hotel in downtown Minneapolis, the W. Foshay Hotel is the place for you! The Foshay has been around since 1930 and still retains all its charm.  You feel the difference once you walk through the door, straight through the pink and black , very inviting hall way up to the front registration desk, where the very friendly and customer service oriented staff awaits.

They offer comfortable beds, complimentary wi-fi, and an excellent location (right next to the Guthrie Theater).

You know that feeling when you’re about to go on vacation, or any trip out of town and you have the sudden urge to start packing right then? It’s okay if you can’t help yourself! But don’t worry. You’ve got time before your flight leaves for Minneapolis. To get the best out of this town , you should head downtown straight from the airport , which is about 45mins. Not bad for airport to downtown drive, all traffic considered.

The W. Foshay Hotel is located in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota near all of the great attractions like Target Field or Orchestra Hall – so even if you have a little bit of spare time after exploring during the day, there are plenty of places close by where you can enjoy some drinks or dinner at night. Plus, with their top notch amenities (including free WiFi)

  1. Contemporary style lobby includes a Premium steakhouse, serving small plates and drinks
Take a seat in the cozy chairs around the fireplace for complete entertainment and relaxation. This hip and stylish, fireplace beings in all the ambiance of a night or afternoon out on the town. Its also a picture perfect venue for all guests.

2. The  Lounge space has a great atmosphere, architectural design is is cool and refreshing and hip all at the same time. When you are visiting a town for any reason , you must talk about the food. Its usually one of the most lasting experiences people carry with them long after their visit. The Foshay Tower is truly unique.  It is a  tribute to art deco both inside and out with it’s classic design full of modern twists for this era-defining building that never fails in paying homage but also standing strong by being timeless while staying updated at all times.

That’s why I feel compelled to tell you about the mushroom fries I had at this lobby. It was simply the best I’ve had so far. be sure to order and you will not regret your choice. Definitely one of the 6 things to do at the Foshay, is to have dinner at Manny’s very upscale restaurant or order small bites from the lobby area. Look out for the bubbles chandelier as you come through the front door, its a great backdrop for any reason you want it to be. I missed the live music they used to have, but am sure it will return as Covid restrictions gets easier.

3. Great guest rooms,  you will love the star lights in the mirror, its cute, rain shower head superb, ladies bring your shower caps for maximum bath time enjoyment. I stayed in the corner suite. It was luxurious, beautiful chandelier, fancy dinning or bar area, contemporary designed sofas, spacious living room, bathroom and bedroom. I personally did not like the television behind the bedroom door, but others might just be fine with that set up, when you close the bedroom door.

4. The prohibition bar  is one of the 7 reasons to stay at the Foshay hotel. You must hang out here for its cozy lounge. The history of the location holds that this lounge was initially created as the owner’s private office but latter became a great spot to enjoy the skyline and bites from Manny’s steakhouse paired with great tasting martinis . The lounge is also a beautiful spot for date nights. Meeting up on the 27th floor is almost a best kept secret in Minneapolis. Unfortunately it was  closed  during my last visit to adhere to Covid restrictions. Be sure to look out for it reopening soon. Be sure to check out the website for reopening date http://thelivingroom-prohibition.com

5. Observation Deck – From the first floor , take the elevator to the 30th floor for an exceptional experience. As you step out of the elevator , you immediately begin the tour of the Foshay museum. This area beautifully tells the story of Mr. Foshay from start until date, including an interesting local history of Minnesota in the 1930s

You will experience a 360 degree city view like never before.  A cool spot for an extraordinary sunset experience.  This open air observation deck I was told, is built to the exact size of the Washington monument in DC. This deck is almost like a hidden germ, that has a great outdoor view of the city during the day or at night.

6. Easy downtown access attractions like Minneapolis sky way system , the Minnehaha falls, walker art center, enclosed skywalks connects you with other hotels, restaurants and shopping. proximity to lots of things to do, transit and restaurants

7. Great hospitality , outstanding customer service. The ladies at the front desk were superb with top notch customer services skills. The valet service for three days , was also outstanding. The cost for valet is $50 a night and not be affordable for some , but the service is great if you use the. There are other available parking across the street and in the area, with different rates to accommodate all. Just ask the valet guys upon arrival and make the choice that works best for you.

Although there are several other things you can do at this  location , I thought to highlight  the 7 things that you can’t pass on during your next visit. The W. Fosahy hotel is a beautiful and luxurious property with reasonable prices, great food and shopping options, and high-end amenities for meetings or vacations. This place has contemporary design in pink and black ambiance that isn’t too far from the airport so it’s perfect to stay near when you’re traveling for business or pleasure.
