Alaska is a U.S. state located on the northwest extremity of the country’s West Coast. I was quite happy to finally visit Alaska and debunk some of the myths I have heard over time. One was that it is always snowing there and cold. Not true: temperatures during my end of August visit was in the 60’s and upper 50s. some mornings were cold , others were raining and misty/cloudy but nothing like I thought. Pleasant surprise. Another thing , you don’t get paid to work and life in Alaska that was in the past. My overall opinion of Alaska is a great .
So many places to eat , hike and just enjoy the outdoors. During my stay I hiked at the flat top park. The mountain route and views were to die for. The most fun during the hike was when I chased a mountain Moose till it disappeared from sight. Other adventures included a tram ride up the mountains that ended up in a restaurant that had great food and drinks. A drive to neighboring Wasilla had me thinking I was in a movie , the scenery was absolute beauty , a nature lovers dream land.
You can’t visit a place without checking out the food. I had a taste of YAK and Buffalo meat , both were great. I’ll eat it again. Lets not forget the Alaskan snow crab legs delicious. Now when you eat fresh salmon from Alaska , you should not even bother to eat any other . Its fresh and Delicious oh and has lots of eggs ( cavier) .
